Call for Papers

The Call for Submissions ends on February 28, 2016. Proposals submitted after this date or which reach us through other channels cannot be accepted.

The Call for Papers opens on January 14th, 2016.

1. Go to the registration page

2. You can already start to fill out and complete your speaker profile. Please note, your speaker profile must be fully completed until February 28th for your session to be accepted.

3. Choose your username. You need the username for your Log In.

4. Enter a valid e-mail address.

5. After completing registration you will be forwarded to the home page again and receive an activation link via your submitted e-mail address. Please note, that this might take up to 15 minutes depending on your e-mail provider and please also check your spam folder... Click the link and set a password.

6. In the menu you will find:

  • User Dashboard: Here you'll find your profile information. Click edit and find your user account were you can change your e-mail address and password, as well as your "Speaker profile" where you can edit & complete your speaker profile.
  • If you go to "Events > Dashboard" you can create a session proposal with > "Add Content" and simply fill out all fields related to your session proposal.

7. Go back to the User Dashboard by clicking “My account” and find your submitted proposal and may edit it as necessary at “My content”

8. Feel free to save and continue at a later date – but remember: your session needs to be completely filled out by February 28th

9. Add speakers to your sessions. If you are planning several speakers into your session, all of them need to register and create a profile. Once you know their username, go to “My content” open the session, click “Edit” and add the usernames to the "Speaker(s)" field in the form.

10. Yay, your session is fully filled out and submitted on time! Or go back to Step 7 and submit more session proposals.

As long as you can access your session from the dashboard, it is saved and submitted correctly. You don't need to do anything else. Your session will be published once we accepted it for the conference programme. But no worries, we'll inform you via email before we'll publish it.

You will be able to change the session proposal at any time. Though if you change it after the Call for Papers deadline on February 28, 2016 you should notify us. We will in return notify you if we think your session proposal needs a rewrite before we can publish it.

We have 20 and 40 minute slots. You can let us know your preference in your proposal.

Of course, you can. We do not, however, accept product presentations or company marketing presentations. If your company is interested in collaboration or sponsoring with droidcon Berlin, please contact us.

No, unfortunately not.

On the day your session will take place. We do not need your finished presentation but your short session description will be published online. We’d suggest making the short description informative and well formulated when submitting, in order to get readers interested in your session. Also, make it short but sweet (hardly anyone reads more than half a page, so your session's description is limited to 2.000 caracters).

We will let you know by the end of March.

We need information concerning your session idea including the topic, a brief description of the content, format (long or short talk), experience level, as well as some information about you.

Take part in our Call for Papers! To submit your session idea, please register at our website and submit a new session form for each idea. A detailed description can be found below.
The more precise and complete the information you submit, the easier for us to select your session.

Volunteers

If you do not yet have a user account:

  1. Go to the volunteer registration under the menue "Attend > Register as Vounteer".
  2. Please fill out all the required data for your volunteer profile.
  3. Chose a username.  Please note that user names are visible to all logged in users. All personal data (age, name) can only be seen by the administrators / volunteer managers.
  4. Type in a functioning e-mail address.
  5. After sending your data off, you will receive an activation link (please also check your SPAM mail). Follow the link and chose a password.
  6. In the menu you will see "volunteer account": Here you can see your information and make changes if you wish.
  7. In the event-dashboard as well as the menu you can find:
  • „schift schedule": here you can register for a shift - one shift only please!
  • „work stations": Here you can see a description of the potential work stations / work types.

  • „my registrations": Here you can see for which shift you registered.

Tickets

Yes. Your student ID must have been valid between October 2015 and May 2016. For example, a student ID from winter semester 2015/16 is ok, but one from summer 2015 cannot be accepted. 

Compared to other conferences of similar size and scope, we feel that we’ve continued to be able to keep droidcon Berlin ticket prices fair. Despite rising costs and the included catering, we aim to make participation open to all by providing reduced- and Early Bird-Tickets, and the opportunity to take part for free as a volunteer or speaker.

All prices include VAT and handling costs. 

Early Bird Ticket: 149,- €
Ticket grants access to two days conference including Wifi, food and drinks, plus a one-day barcamp.

Reduced Ticket: 89,- €
Reduced tickets are only for pupils, students, people on social welfare, retirees and people with disabilities can order a reduced ticket. Please present documents at the door. 

Standard Ticket: 229,- €
Ticket grants access to two days conference including Wifi, food and drinks, plus a one-day barcamp.

Standard Group 5+ Ticket: 199,- €
Ticket grants access to two days conference including Wifi, food and drinks, plus a one-day barcamp.

Business Ticket: 399,- €
Same as Standard Ticket, plus VIP area with separate catering and ticket transferability.

Cancellation is possible for conference tickets. For further information, please get in touch with info@droidcon.de. It is also possible to sell and transfer your ticket to someone else.

Please note that cancellation of tickets is not possible after Monday 13, 2016.

Pupils, students, people on social welfare, retirees and people with disabilities are eligible for these tickets. It is very important that you are able to provide corresponding documentation of eligibility on location (student ID or other form of documentation that is valid in June 2016).

If you're neither a student nor unemployed but also not earning enough to afford a ticket, besides buying an Early Bird Ticket you have another option for attending droidcon Berlin:
Become a volunteer: Before, during and after droidcon we need support from volunteers. As a volunteer you will receive a Standard Ticket including catering in exchange for 8 hours of supporting us. Volunteers accreditation will begin mid May, 2016.

  • Access to the VIP Area
    with separate catering station during the two full conference days. Meals and drinks are included in the Business Ticket and are made available directly in the VIP lounge along with a selection of fruits.
  • Transferability
    In contrast to Standard Tickets, Business Tickets are transferable during the event. For companies this means that colleagues can alternate attendance by sharing the company ticket. Changing is only possible for full days.
  • City tour
    For those who would like to get a closer look at Berlin sights, we will organize a city tour, which is included in Business Tickets.
  • Supporting droidcon Berlin
    Buying a Business Ticket helps to ensure that droidcon Berlin can keep the low prices for our Reduced Tickets.
  • Cancellation
    Business Tickets can be cancelled free of charge
